  • OBJECTIVE

  • The Powered Pleasure Craft Driving Licence (PPCDL) is required for driving a pleasure craft/ powered yacht that are less than 24 meters in length within Singapore Port Limits
  • ENTRY REQUIREMENTS

    • Be at least 16 years of age & physically fit
    • No colour blindness
    • No physical handicap

  • HOW TO OBTAIN THE MPA LICENCE

    • Attend 2 Days PPCDL Course with AYA (includes both Theory and Practical sessions)
    • Sign up at your own time for Theory Test at Singapore Polytechnic (medical certificate required)
    • Sign up for at your own time for Practical Test at the Singapore Polytechnic*(You can only attend Practical Test after you have passed the Theory Test)*

You will obtain the PPCDL Certificate of Attendance on completion of the course.
You will need to bring this Certificate together with the Medical Report when you go for the Theory Test.

PPCDL Q&A

1. How much is PPCDL course fee?

The course fee is $350 nett per pax. SeaOPS members $300 nett per pax

2. Examination fees

Theoretical examination: $20 (Singaporeans or PRS), $40 (Foreigners)
Practical examination: $100 (Singaporeans or PRS), $150 (Foreigners)
Document application fee (physical card) : $20

3. Is there a Chinese course?

You can choose Chinese courses and the exams will also be in Chinese. We can start a Chinese class with min 4 students.

4. Course time?

Our course schedule includes both weekdays and weekends, both lasting for two consecutive days

5. Course location?

Currently the course is only conducted at Raffles Marina.

6. Can I drive boat in other countries with PPCDL?

PPCDL is only valid in Singapore. If you want an international driving license, we suggest you to complete the PPCDL course first and then take Boat Master course

7. Are the certificates for Chinese courses the same as those for English courses?

The certificates are the same, all in English. The only difference is that a parenthesis (Chinese Course) will be added to the certificate obtained from the Chinese course.

8. What is the complete process for learning a yacht driving license?

  1. Take PPCDL course, you will receive an attendance certificate
  2.  Make an appointment for the theoretical examination
  3.  Take physical examination and get the medical certificate (Can be done before PPCDL course, valid for 6 months)
  4.  Take the theoretical examination (Bring the PPCDL attendance certificate and medical examination certificate to take the theory exam at Singapore Polytechnic.)
  5.  You can make an appointment for the practical exam, after passing the theoretical exam
  6.  Take the practical examination (You need to bring your physical examination certificate, PPCDL attendance certificate and proof of passing the theoretical examination.)
  7.  After passing all the examinations, an official lifetime license for PPCDL will be obtained. People over 65 years old need to renew their status every two years
